Memorial Day Weekend

We've had a fabulous weekend so far....lots of time with both friends and family, plus some perfectly gorgeous weather!!

Saturday we went to Discover Day in Lexington with some friends we hadn't seen in a while. They're expecting a baby in July, so it was fun to chat about all the future playdates our kiddos will have!

Today, Layla started her day at a very wet playground.

It was too wet to do anything but swing, so we hit up Starbucks instead. She takes her strawberries 'n cream frappuccino very seriously!

Later, we had a nice visit with Uncle Jim and Aunt Leigh. Layla and Jim were high-fiving, but she wouldn't stay still long enough to get a good picture!

We also had a wonderful day with Mikki and baby Liam. Layla was very sweet with Liam and spending time with Liam (including bathing him!) was a nice refresher course for me! Can't wait till Liam can show baby Farnham the ropes in a few months. I have a feeling that in a few years the boys will be ganging up to annoy Layla to the best of their abilities!

No big plans for Monday, but I'm sure Layla has something exciting in store for us!

Fun-filled Weekend

Good news....the dog lived! Not only that, he got away with only a scrape to his eye. Really not sure how that happened, as Chris and I were convinced he'd suffered serious injuries (or worse). Miraculous!

Layla helped to celebrate a friend's 2nd birthday yesterday. Here's a pic of Layla and Lola sharing a snack.

Later, Layla enjoyed one of the celebratory cupcakes.

On Sunday, Chris played soccer and Layla and I watched. Well, I wouldn't exactly say we watched. She ran around, made lots of friends, and occasionally cheered on Dadda.

Then we hit up the Cedar Hill Dairy Joy in Weston, MA for some lunch and, of course, ice cream!

18 Months!

Layla turned one and a half today! She marked the occasion by having a fun day at daycare and then playing at the park with tons of neighborhood kids.

On a sadder note, we were outside chatting with a friend today when we noticed a stray dog that we suspected was the neighbor's. The next thing we knew, the dog ran into the street and was hit by one of the small town buses as it barreled down our street right in front of our house. I ran inside with Layla as it happened because I didn't want to see the outcome. The owner rushed the dog to her house. Seeing that was traumatic, but the whole incident made me think about how much worse it must have been for one of my students to see his friend (also a 4th grader of ours) get hit by a car and thrown 25 feet last week. The student is going to be ok (returning to school next week); I'm not so sure about the dog.

Not So Cute

So that those of you not on facebook don't miss out....here's the other side of adorable Layla. It's called "I flip out when things don't go my way!"

Dizzy!

This video's a week old, but still cute. Plus, you get to see our new rug!

In other news, we finally turned Layla's carseat around so that she is facing forward. In the last year, the powers that be changed the regulation from 1 year and 20 pounds to 2 years, regardless of weight. Well, no one I know has waited that long; even the doctor admitted she had turned her child and then when the new rec came out she didn't turn him back. Poor Layla's legs were starting to be smooshed. She tends to drop things more now, but all in all I think she's happy about the change!

Paint with Water

She had fun painting both her pictures and the table. Luckily, the only "paint" involved was water.
