Jungle Jumparoo Jam

Layla's favorite new toy is her Jungle Jumparoo. Unfortunately, she was distracted by the camera and settled down; the brief hop/skip/shuffle towards the end of the video is more indicative of her typical jumparoo jam.

Questions

Since Saturday, Layla has been having extreme screaming jags, unlike what we've seen up until now. She cried for her sitter on Saturday afternoon. Sunday, at church, she was a mess for the sweet teenager who volunteered to watch her during our meeting. Yesterday, her main provider at day care wasn't there, and Layla screamed all day. Today at day care she screamed for an hour. Even Chris and I had a hard time calming her during these times.

In the past week we've been giving her more formula and we also started cereal. I'm wondering if her belly is upset. Surprisingly, though, she has been sleeping well. For now I'm going to hold off on the cereal. If things improve then we may have our culprit. Stay tuned!

Swing Time!

We had a play date at the playground with a group of Lexington babies. Layla tried out the swing for the first time, even if only for a minute. She wasn't too impressed. She much preferred to sit with Mommy on her blanket and watch all the older babies.

On another note, we had her 4 month appointment yesterday. She weighed in at 15 pounds, 10 ounces, which places her around the 85th percentile for weight. She's also 26 inches long.

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Layla gave me a great birthday present. After weeks of not sleeping well at night....with multiple feedings in the middle of the night....Layla slept through till about 5:30 this morning. She had been doing this weeks ago, but it has been a while. I am someone who really needs my sleep, so this is pretty much the best bday gift she could have given me!

A Brush with Fame

Mommy and Layla picked Daddy up at Panera today. Kevin O'Connor, host of This Old House, was sitting at the table next to Chris. On our way out, he definitely smiled at Layla!

New Things

I decided to offer Layla some cereal tonight. She didn't spit any out, though she did drool some out! Rookie mistake: I forgot a bib.

Because the cereal was such a success, I got excited to put together Layla's booster seat. Now she can sit at the table with us while we eat!

New View

Layla took a ride to Trader Joe's yesterday, facing forward in her umbrella stroller for the first time. She loved watching all the people come and go on the bike path. Of course, I am so used to staring at her while we stroll that I couldn't help but continuously walk around the stroller to see just what she was doing.

Milestone

Layla hit a major milestone this week. For two days in a row, when I picked her up at daycare, she was actually in the same outfit that I put her in in the morning! This is a huge accomplishment for Layla, queen of drool and giant poops!

Another Great Weekend

Spanish class, a soccer pizza party, and a fabulous visit with Grandmommy and Granddaddy. And that was just Saturday!

Here's Layla at the party, dozing with Tiffany. Socializing is such tiring work!

After the soccer party, Grandmommy and Granddaddy had so much fun playing with Layla. In the afternoon, Granddaddy prepared a leg of lamb from our meat share and we took a long walk while it cooked. Layla jumped in her jumperoo while we ate our delicious dinner.

Sunday morning, Layla woke up around 7:00, hung out for a while, and then fell back asleep in her granddaddy's arms.

The grandparents left for PA in the morning and we headed to church. In the afternoon we took advantage of another beautiful day and took a walk into the Heights. They looked kind of silly and we took them off after a short amount of time, but Layla did sport her nifty sunglasses for a portion of her ride today.

Fun with Daddy

Oasis makes Layla smile.

Great Weekend

Not only was the weather gorgeous, but Layla was in a fantastic mood this weekend. (Chris says we always put up the good news, and that everyone must have a skewed view of what life with Layla is like. Well, the last two nights she's had us awake about 6 or more times from midnight on. Not ok! She's lucky she's so cute.)

Here are some highlights....

  • Took a trip into Davis Square to walk around and enjoy the nice weather. Really, it was an excuse to make a stop at Spike's to get a deeeeelicious hot dog.
  • Ran into Dan Reed and enjoyed a visit at Diesel.
  • Visited our former landladies, Mary and Mary. They were thrilled to meet Layla. Here's a pic of Mary #1.
  • Lori visited in the afternoon and was so happy to kiss Layla's big ol' cheeks.
  • Sunday we headed to church for the first time with Layla. She apparently did a great job in the nursery and she was the hit of the coffee hour.
  • Ended the weekend with a walk around the neighborhood. Such a nice day!

Nap Time

The new couches make a comfy napping spot for Daddy and Layla.

After-school nap time with Mommy helps to prevent the evening screams that Layla sometimes likes.

Snow Day

The Nor' Easter extended our weekend by a day. The morning started off like most snowy mornings do...Chris outside shoveling, and Layla and me inside the nice warm house. The saddest part, is that by yesterday you could see just about our entire lawn. Now, just piles and piles of white stuff.

Between massive poops and more frequent spit-ups lately, Layla has been in and out of many outfits this weekend. This morning, she was on her second outfit by about 8:30. Here she is between outfits 2 and 3 earlier today.

Today Was a Good Day (20% more links)

Ice Cube might not have thought so, but I had a great day with Layla. After being gone for two weeks, I was determined to have some quality time at home.
  • I made scrambled eggs and toast while Becky did the morning feeding
  • We listened to Weekend Edition on NPR. (Liane Hansen must have been on vacation because Scott Simon was hosting)
  • Layla and Becky took a nap while I did some work around the house.
  • Then I played guitar to Layla.
  • We hung out and read some more.
  • Layla had the biggest diaper blow-out ever. It was up to her armpits. (No links or pix of this one)
We didn't take many pix today as we were focusing on just enjoying the lazy day. But here's one from today just for the record.

Shake, Rattle, and Roll

Layla shakes a rattle! Of course, we have to place it in her hand and when she drops it she hasn't a clue how to recover it. Regardless, it's cute!
