Dizzy!

This video's a week old, but still cute. Plus, you get to see our new rug!

In other news, we finally turned Layla's carseat around so that she is facing forward. In the last year, the powers that be changed the regulation from 1 year and 20 pounds to 2 years, regardless of weight. Well, no one I know has waited that long; even the doctor admitted she had turned her child and then when the new rec came out she didn't turn him back. Poor Layla's legs were starting to be smooshed. She tends to drop things more now, but all in all I think she's happy about the change!

Paint with Water

She had fun painting both her pictures and the table. Luckily, the only "paint" involved was water.

Rainy Day Fun

This morning I headed to the LexFUN's annual children's consignment sale. This day is quickly becoming one of my favorite of the year. This year I was joined by two friends who are moms of infants and it made the shopping much more fun! We started in the "big stuff" room, where I snagged a small folding chair for Layla. It will be great for the backyard once it stops raining! Then we hit up the clothes/toy room. Layla now has a bunch of new clothes for summer and her fall wardrobe is "getting there." Even Baby Boy Farnham got a nice winter hat out of the deal!

Here's Layla lounging in her new chair while watching the Red Sox game. She was so cute clapping and smiling when there was a good play. We turned it off after the rain delay, so she hasn't yet learned how quickly things can turn bad!

Water, Part II

The boil water order was lifted early this morning. Before we could use the water we had to flush the pipes for a bit. I did that this morning, but I became concerned when there didn't seem to be much hot water. I knew that the "contaminated" water couldn't be related to a lack of hot water, but I was concerned that I would get home in the afternoon and would only be able to bathe Layla in clean, cold water. I put a call into a neighbor plumber, but it was unnecessary because when we finally got home this evening, the water seemed fine.

So....everything's back to normal around here. Or, it will be when Chris makes it home tomorrow evening.

Water!

A few weeks ago, with the crazy rainstorms, our entire area was dealing with flooding and other water-related damages. Now, this weekend, it's a different type of water problem. A main water pipe a few towns over has broken (a 10 foot wide, 7 year old pipe). As a result, our town, along with Boston and many towns north and south, is on a boil water order until further notice. The stores were CRAZY yesterday with people hogging all the water. We simply bought 3 gall0ns and have barely made a dent in the first. Cooking isn't so bad. Cleaning dishes is a bit annoying because we have to soak in diluted bleach after cleaning in the water. I think the trickiest part is that they are recommending not bathing young children in the water, since they may ingest it. I can give Layla a sponge bath without much difficulty, but a shampoo will be another challenge. I just wish I knew when the order would be lifted. If I can get away without washing her hair for a day or two, I will....but if we're talking a week or more then we'll have to go to plan B. Added to the complications is that Chris is traveling Monday - Wednesday this week.

We've had a full weekend. We learned about the water crisis while on the way back from Sturbridge to welcome Layla's newest friend, Liam MacDonald. Liam is 4 weeks old and is an adorable peanut! Layla learned how to say the word 'baby' just in time for the party.

Today was a beautiful flower service at church. Now we're resting up for some friends to stop by for an afternoon bbq. Gonna be a hot afternoon, so we're trying to relax and stay cool...and drink clean water when we can :).

New Loot!

We picked up all of these trucks from a family on Freecycle. Layla is psyched to have more toys for the back yard.

And here's yet another pic of Layla's trip to PA. She's helping Granddaddy feed the squirrels. Granddaddy just sent us lots of great pics from our last two visits with them, so when I have time I will sort through them and post a few gems.
