So You Think You Can Walk!

In the past, when you were holding Layla and she wanted to be put down, as you lowered her to the ground she would go right into a crawl position and take off crawling as soon as she hit the floor. Lately, it's clear that she thinks she can walk. As you put her down she just takes off, still completely upright. She's getting really close to walking on her own. Maybe she'll figure it out just in time to celebrate her bday next Saturday!

In other news, she now says "hi" when she puts a phone (or her hand, or her diaper cream, or whatever else she can find) up to her ear. She also says "uh oh" when things drop to the floor, and I'm pretty sure she now says "mom" in the proper context sometimes. Chris and I were both surprised today when she brought me the book Hug and as I read it she repeatedly went "Ah, ah, ah" in a way that I hadn't really heard before. I'm pretty sure she was making the sound for the monkey in the book. What's weird is that I haven't ever (maybe once a long time ago) read her that book before and Chris has only a handful of times. We're wondering if she's seen it at daycare.
